Local rules

Out of Bounds

Out of Bounds is indicated by white stakes or white topped posts.

Abnormal Ground  conditions

Ground Under Repair (GUR) is indicated by blue posts or lines.   The player must take relief in accordance with Rule 25 1a and b.   White GUR lines:  play is allowed.

Roads and paths

All paths are an integral part of the course.  The Goorbergseweg parallel to, or crossing, holes 2,3, 4 and 7 is an immovable obstruction (Rule 24-2a and b).


The posts, and the wires between them, along the Goorbergseweg on the green side of Hole 2, and alongside the tee of Hole 3, are immovable obstructions. In case of interference, the player may take relief in accordance with Rule 24-2b(1).

Penalty for breach of a Local Rule:

Matchplay – loss of hole.   Strokeplay: 2 penalty strokes.


Greenkeepers have priority at all times.  Wait to play until you receive a signal that you may play, or the orange warning light on the machine is switched off.


Distances shown on the sprinkler heads are measured to the centre of the greens.

Distance meters

A player is allowed to determine distance using a distance meter. During an official round a player is not allowed to use a distance meter which provides additional information which could influence his/her game(for example:  slope, wind speed, wind direction, advice concerning club selection, etc.); See Rule 14-3.

Exception  Equipment which provides information concerning distance attainable with selected clubs may be used, if this information was obtained before play commences.

Penalty for breach of the Local Rule:

1st breach:  Matchplay – loss of hole;  Strokeplay – 2 strokes.

Subsequent breaches – disqualification.

 Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1 are modified as follows:


When a player’s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment.

The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1.

This Local Rule applies only when the player’s ball or ball-marker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental.

Note: If it is determined that a player’s ball on the putting green was moved as a result of wind, water or some other natural cause such as the effects of gravity, the ball must be played as it lies from its new location. A ball-marker moved in such circumstances is replaced.


Penalty for breach of the Local Rule:

Matchplay – loss of hole 

Strokeplay – 2 strokes.

Temporary Local Rules

Damage to the course caused by crows is an abnormal ground condition, including a repaired but not yet recovered area if through the green this causes interference for the player’s stance or intended swing. The player MAY take relief in accordance with Rule 25-1b.

On the green:   If the ball lies on the green damage to the green caused by crows is an abnormal ground condition if this occurs between the ball and the hole or if the ball lies in the condition. The player MAY lift the ball and place it as near as possible to the abnormal condition, but not  nearer the hole. The nearest point of relief may lie outside the green.

Note:  The damaged and repaired, but not yet recovered, areas are not marked.
